Late Childhood
Children in late childhood, typically between the ages of 7 and 12, are navigating a crucial developmental stage where they form their identities, build social skills, and face increasing academic pressures.
How We Work
-
We work closely with children and their families to address issues such as anxiety, school-related stress, social difficulties, and family dynamics. Common challenges we help with:
Social Anxiety: Intense fear of social situations and being judged or embarrassed in front of others.
Separation Anxiety: Fear of being away from parents or primary caregivers, which can interfere with daily activities.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Inattention: Difficulty staying focused, following instructions, and completing tasks.
Hyperactivity: Excessive fidgeting, running, or climbing when it is not appropriate.
Social Challenges
Bullying: Being a victim of bullying or exhibiting bullying behaviors.
Peer Relationships: Struggling to make and keep friends, and navigating complex social dynamics.
Adjustment Disorders: Difficulty coping with significant life changes such as moving, parental divorce, or loss of a loved one.
-
Individual Therapy:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps children understand and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. It's effective for treating anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues.
Play Therapy: Utilizes play to help children express emotions, resolve psychological issues, and improve communication. It's particularly effective for younger children who may struggle to articulate their feelings verbally.
Family Therapy: Involves family members in therapy sessions to address family dynamics, improve communication, and resolve conflicts. This approach helps create a supportive home environment.
Parent Coaching: Provides parents with strategies to support their child's emotional and behavioral development. This includes techniques for managing challenging behaviors and fostering a positive home environment.
Skill-Building Programs:
Emotional Regulation: Teaching children techniques to manage and express their emotions in healthy ways. This includes mindfulness practices, relaxation techniques, and anger management strategies.
Problem-Solving Skills: Helping children develop critical thinking and decision-making skills to navigate challenges and conflicts effectively.
Resilience Training: Building resilience by teaching children how to cope with setbacks, adapt to change, and maintain a positive outlook.

Our goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can express themselves, develop coping strategies, and build a strong foundation for their teenage years and beyond.
